Exploring Yoga from the Outside In
There’s something special that happens when you step into your practice. Maybe you discover something fun. Maybe you discover something deeper.
When you show up to your mat with an open heart, yoga can be truly transformative. My teaching is dedicated to sharing the elements of yoga philosophy and practice that help you understand who you are and how you want to show up in the world.
Yoga wasn’t always part of my life. In earlier years, busy with a young family and career, having an hour to myself typically meant a long run or gym workout. I needed to get things done, to check tasks and accomplishments off my list. I was not open to the idea that moving slowly and mindfully could change my life in the best way.
For reasons I can’t quite pinpoint, though, I was curious about what I might be missing. Maybe it was the challenge of dealing with a profoundly ill child and feeling overwhelmed by the domino effect that caused. Maybe it was the underlying sense that something was off-track in other areas of my life. Something powerful delivered me to a weekend-long workshop that introduced me to yoga philosophy as a pathway to leading a more intentional life.
The unfolding of that path brought me to this moment, where I’m grateful that I get to share yoga practice and philosophy in a variety of places and creative ways. Expect to find my classes at beaches, tennis courts, gardens and libraries! And I love working with practitioners of all levels and ages. I recognize that my students bring their whole selves to class—physical, mental, emotional and spiritual; what happened earlier in the day, what happened fifteen years ago, and what has yet to happen. I aim to design classes that build on the synergies of our external and internal experiences, using themes and poetry and awareness of off-the-mat experiences to create powerful moments of inquiry, understanding and connection. I’d love for you to join me and explore what yoga can bring to your life. Let’s practice together!
